MANY THANKS TO DAN FROM MONSTER-MAKER

I just wanted to give many thanks to Dan from Monster Man who was generous enough to donate to my monster making fund (which can be seen on the sidebar to the right). So be sure to visit his amazing site which contains a vast array of fantastic and brilliantly crafted monsters all from using paper mache and vids. You can even check out his studio in VR!

Now I'm off to gather ghoulish supplies (going to Hobby Lobby) so I can make some new monsters to share on this site. Thanks, Dan!

THE ART OF STOP-MOTION AT ANIMAZING

Here is something fantastic I got in my email this morning:

The SoHo art gallery, Animazing, is hosting a Art of Stop-Motion exhibit and sale of the films of Tim Burton and Henry Sellick. The exhibit will showcase props, storyboards, and conceptual art from films such as The Nightmare Before Christmas and the more recent Coraline.

The event will start on Thursday and run until December 31st and is free and open to the public. The gallery is open seven days of the week. The gallery is located at 54 Greene Street on the corner of Broome in Soho. More information can be found at the Animazing website and the exhibit will go online at the site after 7PM on November 12th. Go here for more details.

THIS TO THAT

If you are like me you are constantly gluing one material to another and sometimes this ends with disastrous results; because you didn't use the right kind of glue.

I found this nifty website called, This to That, which has a guide which allows you to find the perfect glue for any prop project that you are working on. The best part is that it was developed by someone who makes theatrical props for a living so the site knows what is truly best for any kind of prop that you may be building.

The way it works is that you fill in what material you want to stick to what other material you are trying to glue and then it gives advice on what glue to use along with how to use it and what to look out for to avoid any mistakes. It really is a valuable tool to have bookmarked on your computer or what have you. Check it out.
