Adam Savage's Talks Rasputin's Mecha Glove

One of the coolest bonuses of Jamie and Adam's (MYTHBUSTERS) Tested site is the inside look at Adam Savage's man cave/workshop and the replica prop projects that he has meticulously been working on.

What I love about his process is that he actually takes his time to study the prop and takes the time to make sure every detail is as close to the original as possible, even going as far as machining the parts himself or hiring companies to build custom made parts.

Here he is discussing one of his prop projects which is the infamous Mecha Glove that Rasputin used in the film HELLBOY:

Here is a amazing look at how Blind Squirrel Props has made a replica of the mechanical hand that Ash used in the film ARMY OF DARKNESS.  Very cool.

Much like the Steve Johnson Ghostbusters video are three more vids making the rounds  This time around for the sequel..  The first video showcases some optical effects alongside miniatire work and a bit of bluescreen puppeteering.  Not to mentiom a peek at Vigo.
The second video showcases the puppeteering involved with a far different made Slimer puppet.

The third video showcases how the Vigo painting effect was pulled off along with the real voice of the actor who played the film's main villain.

Inspiration: A Replica of the Entire M*A*S*H Set in a Backyard

Somebody has way too much free time on their hands.

Someone REALLY loves the classic TV series M*A*S*H and has built an entire replica inside and out of the show's sets.  No detail was spared including replica sign posts, props, and even costume replicas. 

The one thing you should take note of is that this project proves that nothing is impossible.  If you are making a indie film and need a elaborate set then think of using your very own backyard.  It's cheaper then renting a warehouse or campgrounds for a few weeks.

I wonder if one day we will see a fan-made web series using this backyard set-up.

Yesterday Kotaku posted this video of Cosplay genius Holly Condrad's audtion tape for a upcoming Comic Con documentary showcasing her love of costume design and peek at her Mass Effect project which includes a working animatronic of Grunt.

Despite my love of props and costumes I have never been into Cosplay, but damn I love the passion of it all, and Holly Conrad's website is chock full of awesome costumes and ideas.  Seriously, go to her site, Sorcery and Glue, right now and stare in awe of all of the things she and her friends have made.  Let's hope that she gets into that documentary too.
