MATT IRVINE ON SPECIAL EFFECTS FOR BLAKES 7

Here is a cool featurette on how some of the effects and ship models were pulled off on the British television series BLAKE'S 7. Once again proving that in order to make a great looking prop you just need a good eye, some brains, and lots of junk. (via patbean)

Yay, good old Matt, grew up watching Matt Irvine show his models on shows like Swap Shop and Blue Peter !! Love old school FX even though I work mainly in CG !

I use CG myself, but always refer back to the old school fx techniques because I will sometimes discover a easier way of doing a effect in camera as opposed to hours of digital post.

I have a great admiration for the old ways of fx as you can probably notice from this blog.

I have yet to see BLAKES 7 but had to post those clips just for the sheer love of Matt's models.

I'll have to search around for those shows you mentioned now.

Thanks for dropping by.

PS: I really dig your blog and the work that you have done, including your matte paintings.
